SpiderMonkey is built on rock solid foundations: The Eclipse application framework, and True North, DecisionSoft's XBRL processor.
Eclipse is an Open Source development platform, originally developed by IBM. SpiderMonkey harnesses the power of this platform to create a stable, powerful environment for XBRL taxonomy development. The Eclipse framework supports plug-ins, allowing SpiderMonkey to be readily extended or customised for a particular application. The official RCP commercial applications page on the Eclipse website provides an indication of the number of products being developed using the framework.
True North is the Gold Standard for XBRL validation and processing. True North is widely regarded as the most accurate implementation of the XBRL 2.1 specification, so you can be confident that taxonomies developed with SpiderMonkey will be fully standards-compliant.
