Introduction to XBRL for XML developers

Know how to use XML in your applications but you now need to come to grips with XBRL? This is the course for you. Designed by developers for developers and information professionals, this course teaches you how to deal with XBRL taxonomies and instance documents. The course covers all the technical fundamentals you need to understand in order to both create and consume financial and performance data in XBRL format. XBRL, or interactive data is becoming the universal way for regulators, governments and financial markets to define and exchange performance information. But financial and regulatory disclosure is a complex field and the XBRL specification is not for the faint hearted. After completing this course you will be confident about working with this technology.

This course is for those that need to prepare or consume XBRL documents using or extending their own software. We assume a basic knowledge of XML as well as some XML processing techniques, but there is no specific prerequisites for attendees.
