What is Inline XBRL?

Inline XBRL (iXBRL)is the newest standard from the XBRL Consortium. It is an open, royalty-free way of concealing a structured XBRL document inside a web page.

The iXBRL standard was invented by CoreFiling and donated to the XBRL Consortium, and we've worked with colleagues inside the Consortium to turn it into a robust and interoperable standard. CoreFiling edited the technical specification.

Inline XBRL resolves the issue that many users of XBRL have come across, which is that a structured representation of a complex financial statement or other kind of performance report represented in computer-readable format is extremely difficult to convert back into a human readable form in a manner consistent with the way that the preparer envisaged. Inline XBRL avoids this problem by combining the two.
