CoreFiling and Xmetric launch iXBRL accounts validation service

SureFile Accounts service provides low-cost validation for 3 million UK company filings

Oxford/London, 8th February 2012. CoreFiling, the leading XBRL software vendor, and Xmetric, the specialist XBRL consultancy, have announced a web-based validation service to check iXBRL accounts prior to filing with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Companies House.

Xmetric’s SureFile Accounts online service ( is easily accessible to accountants and companies for testing iXBRL accounts against the requirements imposed by HMRC and Companies House. Offered as a “Software-as-a-Service” solution, SureFile has a strong XBRL pedigree, built around CoreFiling’s True North® Online validation and analytics platform.

UK company tax filings have been submitted in iXBRL since April 2011, when HMRC’s mandate came into force. Companies House, the companies registry, also accepts accounts in iXBRL format. In addition to conventional document validation, SureFile Accounts provides supplementary tests to identify issues that may bring unwanted attention from HMRC. Philip Allen, CoreFiling’s Executive Chairman, said “iXBRL filing has revolutionised the production of company accounts in the UK, but many firms are still focussed on XBRL validity. SureFile Accounts now lets companies address the quality of the information they are disclosing in their filings “.

SureFile Accounts is offered with both subscription and pay-as-you-go options, giving access to the same True North® XBRL engine that is used by HMRC and Companies House. Andy Greener, Director of Xmetric, commented, “A SureFile Accounts review gives peace of mind to iXBRL accounts preparers. For a minimal outlay, preparers can confirm the validity and assess the overall quality of their accounts with business-friendly explanations and guidance, and be assured that they will be accepted by both HMRC and Companies House.”
